Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 August 2026

Welcome to RoutineRoot. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the RoutineRoot app and all related services. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

RoutineRoot is intended for use by parents and legal guardians who are at least 18 years old. By using the service, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child profiles you create, and that you have the authority to manage their routine and reward data.

2. Your Account

  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and parent PIN
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
  • You are responsible for your language, device mode, and push notification preferences, which you can adjust at any time in Settings

3. Subscriptions & Billing

3.1 Free Trial

New accounts may be eligible for a free trial period, as displayed at sign-up. The trial requires no credit card. At the end of the trial, your account will be restricted until you select a subscription plan.

3.2 Paid Plans

  • Subscription plans are billed monthly or annually via Stripe, in GBP
  • Your plan determines the number of children, routines, tasks, and rewards available
  • Payment is charged in advance at the start of each billing cycle
  • Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice; existing subscribers keep their current price for the current cycle

3.3 Cancellation & Refunds

  • You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Settings page
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
  • You will not be charged again after cancellation, but no partial refunds are given for unused time
  • Statutory refund rights under UK law remain unaffected

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service, other users' data, or our systems
  • Manipulate points, rewards, or subscription features beyond their intended use
  • Share your account credentials with anyone outside your household
  • Use the service to harm, exploit, or endanger any child
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app

5. Child Safety

  • You are solely responsible for supervising your children's use of the app
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of information entered about your children
  • The app is a tool to support parenting — it does not replace parental supervision or judgement
  • We reserve the right to suspend accounts that are used in ways that may harm children

5.1 Notifications, Language & Device Settings

  • Push notifications: Native push alerts to parent devices are off by default. You can enable them in Settings; on a shared device they may be disabled to prevent alerts appearing over a child's screen. In-app bell notifications remain active regardless of this setting.
  • Language preference: You can choose your preferred display language from the language page or Settings. Translations are rolling out gradually; where your language is not yet available, the app displays in English and your choice is saved for when it becomes available.
  • Device mode: You can indicate whether a device is shared with your children or used separately. This helps the app behave appropriately on shared family devices.

6. Your Content

You retain ownership of all data you create in the app, including routines, tasks, child profiles, custom reward requests, child customisation choices (such as avatar and wallpaper), and uploaded photos. You grant us a limited licence to process this data solely to provide the service to you. You may export or delete your data at any time.

6.1 Diagnostic Information & Bug Reports

When you contact us or report a problem, you can choose to attach diagnostic information to help us investigate. This is entirely optional — you can opt out at any time by unchecking the option on the contact form.

The diagnostic information may include:

  • Browser type and version, operating system, and device category (mobile, tablet, or desktop)
  • Screen resolution, viewport size, and pixel ratio
  • Timezone, language, and whether the app is running in a browser, embedded view, or installed (standalone) mode
  • The page URL and in-app route where you were when you submitted the report
  • Your account details (if you are signed in), such as your user ID, email, name, role, and family ID
  • Recent error logs recorded by the app for your account (error type, severity, message, and the screen where it occurred)

We use this information only to diagnose and resolve the issue you reported. It is sent securely to our support team and is not shared with third parties. It does not include passwords, parent PINs, payment card details, or the content of your children's routines, tasks, or photos.

7. Intellectual Property

RoutineRoot, including its design, features, branding, and software, is our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

8. Service Availability

We strive to maintain a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or changes that temporarily affect availability. We are not liable for any downtime, data loss, or service disruptions beyond our reasonable control.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RoutineRoot is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, points, or reward history. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or misuse the service. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Contact
